Language Booster Club in Dubai

What is the Language Booster Club?

The Language Booster Club is a small group run by speech-language pathologists. Children are grouped by communication stage, not only by school year. A group has three or more children, with at least two speech-language pathologists in the session.

The work is language in the company of other children: vocabulary, longer sentences, stories, and conversation. It is part of group therapy at the clinic, not a drop-in class.

What the group works on

  • •Vocabulary and concepts
  • •Longer utterances and sentence structure
  • •Storytelling and narration
  • •Starting and keeping a conversation
  • •Turn-taking, asking for help, and reading other children's cues

Who it is for

The club is for children who can take part in a small group and who need more practice using language with peers. That includes children with language delay who are ready to move beyond one-to-one drills. It is not the right first step for a child who cannot yet stay in a group, or for a child whose main need is feeding safety or speech-motor planning.

Placement is decided after an assessment or from the child's current therapy. Age, language level, and goals are matched so one child is not sitting in a group that is too hard or too easy.

How it differs from individual speech therapy

Individual sessions are for assessment, speech sounds, motor planning, and goals that need one therapist's full attention. The club adds peers. Children practise sharing space, waiting, and talking to someone their own age, with therapists shaping the activity.

Many children do both. The individual plan and the group plan should target the same language goals so the child is not learning two unrelated programmes.

Questions about the Language Booster Club

A club has three or more children. At least two speech-language pathologists lead the session.

No. Groups are formed around communication stage and therapy goals. Activities are planned by speech-language pathologists, and parents receive carry-over ideas for home.

No. The clinic needs to know the child's language level before placing them, so the group is a match. If your child is already in therapy here, the treating therapist can recommend a group.

Language Booster Clubs can include autistic children when the language level and group goals match. The clinic does not publish a separate A-Team Autism Club page. Ask the team which current group fits your child.
